It’s time to open the first door on your advent calendars and behind that door Fairyhouse have provided quite a show. There’s three Grade 1’s and we will be having 16 runners at the meet.

We start the day with SAINT D’OROUX who was pleasing on his first start for the yard. This horse is a very good lucking animal and we think he has a bit of talent. It’ll be great to see him run a good race for connections. Jack Kennedy will be taking the ride.

Next is the first of the Grade 1s, the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle. We send forward two lovely horses in the shape of ABACADABRAS and ENVOI ALLEN. Both of these horses are unbeaten so far this season. Abacadabras represents the Gigginstown corner and is a horse of great size. He has taken the step up in company very well each time and he is up for the challenge. Jack Kennedy will take the ride. Envoi Allen is one of the talking horses of the season and could be anything, we’d be hopeful he can take the step up and progress through the season. Davy Russell will be riding.

This is followed by another Group 1, the Drinmore Novices Chase where we have another two contenders: SAMCRO and TINTANGLE. Samcro won his chase debut with a bit of a spark and he deserves to be in this race, Jack Kennedy will ride. Tintangle was a tough ride for Blackmore the last day as she tried to duck out of a fence, this will be a tough task for her but we have put Davy Russell on board.

Another big prize fund follows in the Porterstown Handicap Chase and we send 4 runners to have a crack at it. MONBEG NOTORIOUS will be at the top of the weights for this 15 runner field. For that reason we’ve decided to claim off him with Kevin Brogan taking off 7lbs. GENERAL PRINCIPLE has form over this trip and comes back after a long summer holiday, Jack Kennedy will take the ride. OUT SAM was none the worse after his fall last time out and the slate is wiped clean for this run. Davy Russell has been booked to ride. Finally is PRINCE OF SCARS

The final Grade 1 of the day is the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle, a race that has come back to the yard three years in a row. APPLE’S JADE looks to make that a fourth time as she faces 5 other contestents. She was well beaten last time by Bacardys and Honeysuckle looks a serious mare. Apple’s needed the race and has come out of it well. We hope she has it in her to win a fourth but the mare owes us nothing. Jack Kennedy will be back on board.

Another big prize fund with the Grade A Handicap Hurdle where we have two runners. CAMPEADOR who made a mistake last time out and then faded, we hope he’ll be able to improve from that run. CHOSEN MATE had a nice spin in the Up the Yard Challenge where he finished 3rd. He was a Grade 2 winner so has some class, Davy Russell will take the ride.

Finally we have the bumper, where we have 4 runners and this looks a very hot race. FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU was well placed in a handful of P2Ps before joining us. He’s a horse we like and Lisa O’Neill takes the ride. GOODLEFT GOODRIGHT has a bit of speed in his pedigree and is having his first start on the race course. Jack Wildman has been given the ride. JIMMY JIMMY is a full brother to the good filly Carrie Des Champs and has plenty of Bumper winners in the pedigree. Paddy Vaughan has been booked to ride. Lastly we have RAGNAR LODBROK another nice horse for Gigginstown and is a son of Fame And Glory who has plenty of winners in the family, Jamie Codd has been booked.

We wish all our runners and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return.
