There was a late change in going yesterday which was unsuitable for two of our horses so we only had two runners in the end. Hopefully today will be a different story as we have 9 runners in Thurles.

Our first runner of the afternoon is ELWOOD in the Beginners Chase. He made a few mistakes on his chasing debut and was slightly hampered on his way around. Hopefully he can build on that and have a cleaner run. Jack Kennedy will be in the driving seat.

We’ve nothing for the second race, but we have plenty for the Opportunity Maiden Hurdle. We have a total of 4 runners in this: IRISH ART, METAL MAN, MOGHRAM, and TRONADOR. Irish Art will have learnt a lot from his first run and should improve the more runs he has over hurdles. Eoin O’Connell has been booked to ride. Metal Man ran a much better race last time but is another one that is still learning. He should have a lot more confidence now over hurdles and will have Jordan Williams in the saddle. Moghram had a very good run first time out for us and showed that he could stay on, we’d hope to see a bit more improvement here again, Sean O’Keeffe rides. Finally we have Tronador who ran a very big race at Leopardstown. He was badly hampered but finished very strongly to grab 4th. Kevin Brogan has kept the ride on the gelding and hopefully his hard work will pay off.

We have ARD ANHAINN in the feature race of the card, the Listed Mares Novice Hurdle. This mare has been running well and coming close to some nice mares in her finishes. She’s got a little bit of black type now and hopefully she can upgrade that to big black type. The main danger in Heaven Help Us who came 2nd to Abacadabras at Leopardstown over Christmas. Ard Abhainn however comes to this quite fresh and will have Davy Russell riding.

Next up is the Jimmy Neville Memorial Rated Novice Hurdle where we have GUN MERCHANT. This horse didn’t run a bad race last time having disputed the lead and shuffling around a bit. We’ve put Kevin Brogan onboard who will claim a valuable 7lbs off which will help him be much more competitive.

Our final runners come in the last, the Holy Cross INH Flat race where we have two runners: WINGS OF DESTINY and FRONTAL ASSAULT. Wings of Destiny hasn’t run that bad on his only two runs and we’d hope he can improve from his runs. We’ve put Paddy Vaughan onboard to take 7lbs off. Frontal Assault has had the benefit of running in point to points, this will be his first run under rules and hopefully it’ll be a good introduction. Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.

We wish all our runners and riders the very best of luck.
