We have finally got enough of a break from the storms to go racing. It’s been a terrible week of meeting cancellations but it’ll be great to get back on the track. We hopefully will kick off the weekend with 8 runners going to Gowran Park.
We have two heading out for the first race, METAL MAN and SAINT D’OROUX in the maiden hurdle. Metal Man came on leaps and bounds last time to finish 5th at Thurles. We hope the penny has dropped with him and we’ve put Keith Donoghue up on board. Saint D’oroux has run a few times now and shown his consistency, Davy Russell will get the ride.
Next up is one of the big races of the day, the Red Mills Trial Hurdle. MENGLI KHAN has been teamed up with Luke Dempsey who gave him a gutsy ride from the front last time so retains the ride. This pair seem to get on well so we wish them the best in their partnership.
A big field is up next where 20 will go to post. We have GUN MERCHANT bang in the middle of the weights and will be partnered by Davy Russell.
The feature race of the day soon follows where we have another two runners. DEATH DUTY had a great spin last time out to finish 4th after a very long absence. He won’t be carrying a huge amount of weight either and will have Davy Russell on board. Our other runner is SHATTERED LOVE who will be getting plenty of weight from Chris’s Dream. She’s in good form and will have Mark Walsh on board.
MILAN NATIVE was another one to run well last time when he came 2nd behind what looks a very good horse. It could end up being an open race and we’ve booked Davy Russell to ride.
We have nothing for the 2 mile novice and move straight to the final race, the bumper. Here we have QUEENS BROOK, who will be having her first run for us after coming from the sales. She’s a nice mare and a point winner so she should know the story. Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.
We wish all our runners and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return in what could be a very stormy weekend.
