We return to racing today for the only meeting in Europe today. We are incredibly lucky to be given the go ahead to run today and take each day as it comes. A big thank you must go to the racecourses for facilitating this and all the medical staff and board members for agreeing to do so. Today’s meeting comes from Thurles and it looks an excellent 7 card meeting.
Our first runner is FAKIERA in the Opportunity Maiden hurdle who wasn’t beaten too far last time out when 2nd. This looks a particularly hot opportunity hurdle as there are some nice horses trying to grab some prize money while they can. We have booked Sean O’Keeffe who will be able to claim 2lbs.
Next up we have two runners in the BetVictor Hurdle over 2m6f. FEROCIOUS will be well suited if this turns out to be a slog so any further ease in the ground would be appreciated by him. Gavin Brouder claims 7lbs. CARTWRIGHT might find himself well in on ratings here and will have 5lbs claimer Sean O’Keeffe on board.
SPORTY YANKEE goes for the 2m6f handicap hurdle in a full field of 16. Davy Russell has been booked to ride and he might have his work cut out for him in this. The horse should appreciate the going and hopefully the do well.
DALLAS DES PICTONS missed Cheltenham and there was only 1L separating 1-4 in a Grade 3 last time out. He is in good form at the moment and hopefully he has a bit more luck this time around. The pair at the top of the field look big dangers so we hope he can squeeze into the frame.
We don’t have anything for the next race and move on to the Beginners Chase where DORTMUND PARK takes his chance. This looks another hot race with some nice horses. It’s a beginners race so there’s sure to be a bit of drama but hopefully we can get around safely.
Finally in the bumper we have GEVREY. This horse travelled well last time before going wide around the bend at Naas but that race experience should give him the edge over some of these newcomers. Paddy Vaughan rides and claims 7lbs.
We wish all our runners and riders the very best and hope every stay safe in these uncertain times.
