It’s finally Friday, which means we return to Galway for another round of jumps racing. The ground is ever changing as more rain is forecast and falling, so a number of non-runners is imminent.

We have nothing for the opener and wait for our first pair of runners, ENZANI in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap hurdle who has his second run for the Stable Staff Syndicate after a very pleasing return where he was 3rd for Davy Russell at Kilbeggan. That run should stand him in good stead as he will be ridden by Sean O’Keeffe who doesn’t get a claim in this race. SILVER STAR also takes his place ran well in a similar event before being out of his depth in a much more competitive field the last day. Jordan Williams has been booked to ride and will take off 4lbs.

Next up is the Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle over 2m where we have declares two runners. STAR MAKER is one that could fall foul to a change in going as he was a long way beaten on soft the last day. However, if the ground improves we would be hopeful that his form could improve and have booked Davy Russell to ride. ARDAMIR was a great winner of a big pot the last day on only his third start for the yard, he got a big rise for that so we have booked Sean O’Keeffe to counter the rise.

The feature race of the day comes next, the Grade B Guinness Handicap Hurdle where RECENT REVELATIONS sneaks in at a low weight due to his age. It’ll be a big ask as he is upped in trip significantly but is fit and in good form, Denis O’Regan has been booked to ride. TIGER TWENTY TWO can stay all day, however he is 6lbs out of the handicap and currently sits as second reserve.

Moving on to the beginners chase, where GLOBAL JACKPOT takes aim. He has run ok on this ground before but is still a maiden in the sphere of chasing. If he gets a bit of luck in running he should go well, Davy Russell has been booked to ride.

We send a pair of highly rated horses to the Arthur Guinness Chase in the shape of MENGLI KHAN and THE STORYTELLER. Mengli Khan returns from a winning run over hurdles and switches back to chasing to try take advantage of this, Davy Russell has been booked to ride. The Storyteller is non the worst after being pulled up in the plate as Davy had aggravated on old injury and was stood down for the day. He makes a quick return to this as a consolation for that run and will have Keith on board.

CREADAN GRAE loves to raid Perth but unfortunately won’t have the opportunity to do that this summer by the looks of things. This looks a highly competitive race and the ground may go against him, Denis O’Regan has been booked to ride. MIGHTY STOWAWAY also joins the field who is a recent addition to the yard and we had our hopes set on the plate with him but he didn’t get in. Higher in the handicap here, he is the book of Davy Russell.

Finally in the bumper we have JAWBOX who departed his last race at the first hurdle but is non the worse for it. He takes his place in this relatively small field with Kevin Brogan claiming 7lbs. He can be a quirky horse but is very talented.
