We managed to add another winner to our tally yesterday as Quilixios blazed a trail in the 3YO hurdle with Denis O’Regan riding. It’s nice to get these ones out and winning for connections having supported us through a tough Spring.
Today looks equally exciting with some top class racing coming from Punchestown where we have 10 runners.
ESKYLANE goes in the opener, the maiden hurdle over 2m. He didn’t seem to get home as well as we had hoped on his last start and he comes here over a slight reduction in trip. That run should have brought him on and he will have Keith Donoghue doing the driving in this full field of 18 runners.
Our next runner is MAKE MY HEART FLY in the K Club Handicap Hurdle over 2m4f. This mare tries on every start and we’ve decided to give her a helping hand by claiming 5lbs off with Eoin O’Connell in the saddle. She’s probably still on a bit of a high mark for now but we will be hoping for a good run regardless.
A big Grade 3 Novice Chase comes next where we send DAKOTA MOIRETTE. This horse is the underdog of the field but it is a small field nonetheless and he may pick up some decent prize money as a very experienced chaser, Keith Donoghue has been booked to ride.
The big race of the day is the Irish Daily Star Salute’s Chase which is a Grade 3 over 3m. We supply half the field for this race all with different profiles. RAVENHILL returns having unseated in the Kerry National and will likely sit out the back and wait to strike with Denis O’Regan in the saddle. ALPHA DES OBEAUX will be having his first start this season and may need the run, he has been working well at home but often improves for his first start, Bryan Cooper has been booked to ride. THE STORYTELLER looks like our biggest hope in this race, being race fit and in good form, Keith Donoghue has been booked to ride. Finally the big mare rounds off our team, SHATTERED LOVE receives all the allowances for this race and will have Mark Walsh in the saddle.
BISHOPS QUARTER is our only runner in the Punchestown Ingoldsby QR Handicap Chase over 2m6f. This is probably one of the biggest horses to set foot in Cullentra so won’t have far to jump to get over these. He has had just over a year off since his last run so will probably improve going forward, Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.
Finally in the bumper we have two very nice horses GORDON’S JET was an impressive winner of his first bumper and his hard to miss with his big white socks. He looks like a fast horse and will again be ridden by Lisa O’Neill. MARS HARPER was similarly impressive in his bumper win and the form of his race looks to be working out well, Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.
