It was an absolute wash out last night as the rain came in droves. Cork has fallen victim as the Sunday fixture has now been cancelled as the track sits underwater. Punchestown however seems to have survived with the going reading as Heavy, Soft to Heavy in places. This won’t be ideal for some of our horses so expect some non-runners as the ground cuts up.
First up we have two nice chasing types in the Beginners Chase over 2m5f. FLOUEUR looks to be shaping into a nice type having been very useful over hurdles last season. This looks right up his street and he will improve for the run, Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride. MORATORIUM might sneak into this having run against some very hot horses recently, he has form with a few here and will be ridden by Keith Donoghue.
Paranoid is set to line up in the McCann Energy Consultants Rated Novices Chase. It looks like conditions are going to come against him here but Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.
KAYF THOU goes for the Handicap Chase over 2m7f with Conor Orr taking off 5lbs. He goes well fresh and could be one suited by the testing ground as his wins come over 3m1f.
The impressive Farouk D’alene will potentially take on only 4 other rivals in the Novice Hurdle but he might not want it this soft. Hopefully it will be a straight forward task and Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.
DARLING DAUGHTER was a big priced winner of the Gr2 mares bumper at the Leopardstown festival last season but didn’t perform at Cheltenham on her next start. She is a big rangy mare that doesn’t show much at home and should appreciate the switch to hurdling, Jack Kennedy has booked to ride.
FISTON DES ISSARDS goes in the Div I maiden hurdle over 2m. He was impressive when winning his point and subsequently bought for £255,000 at Cheltenham sales last November. His dam was a French 2m1f/2m3f chase winner and a half-sister to French 2m1f-2m3f hurdle/chase winner Bouchat and 2m3f chase winner T’En Vas Pas. Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.
ENNEMI PUBLIC ran a great race yesterday but just emptied before the line. He probably won’t run again after that big effort but Jack Kennedy is booked.
Finally in the final race we have CRACKAWAY. He is a horse who prefer to run on easier going so hopefully this will be up his street. Conor Orr has been booked to take off 5lbs which should leave him well in on ratings.
Many people may have noticed we have another very important runner today over in Cheltenham. The people’s horse TIGER ROLL runs in the Cross Country race with Puppy Power in the saddle. He ran well with Sam Ewing the last day at Navan as he needed the run to get fit. Some eagle eyed fans will have noticed Tiger having a school over banks during the week in preparation. It’ll be a big task to take on the French horse Easysland but Tiger will be giving away as much as two stone to some of his rivals and 4lbs to Easysland. It’ll be a case of wishing him good luck and a round of safe jumping as he has his eyes set on a bigger goal.
