Thursday 8th August

Today we head down to Sligo, where we have 5 runners.

We have two runners in the Guinness Rated Novice Hurdle. The first of which is HAMMERSTEIN, who is also the top weight. He will need to put in a big effort conceding weight all around. Keith Donoghue takes the ride. Our second horse in the race is COOLONGOLOOK, who has dropped down the weights which will help. Rachael Blackmore will take the ride.

In the next race, the Carlsberg Handicap Hurdle, RIO DE CERISY will take his chances. He hasn’t set the world alight so we’re trying him out with blinkers, to see if they help. Brian Hayes will have his work cut out and he takes the ride.

STEEL CAP runs in the Kilcawley Construction Maiden Hurdle over 2m 4f. He is another giving weight all around as he carries 11st 12lbs. His 2nd place last time out under the same weight gives us hope for a repeat performance. Keith Donoghue takes the ride.

Our final runner of the evening is GRAINEYHILL in the Rockshore Cider Handicap Hurdle . He isn’t the most consistent and we’re hoping that being paired with old partner Keith Donoghue will bring a bit of fire into his run.

We wish all our runners and riders the best of luck and for a safe return.

Wednesday 7th August

Today will be a much more quiet affair as we send 2 across to Sligo.

The first of the two is COZY SKY, one of our Racing Club horses. She runs in the Countysligoraces.com Handicap. She ran well last time out in awful weather and comes into this off a very low weight. Chris Hayes has been booked to ride.

Finally CLASHANISKA runs in the Diageo Day 8th August Handicap over 1m2f. He carries the top weight of 10st 1lbs so we have Andrew Slattery who claims 5lbs to offset that. He has been close on a few occasions and has a tongue tie for the first time here.

We wish our runners and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return.

Tuesday 6th August

There is only one meeting today in Ireland, and that is in Roscommon. We will be sending 5 horses.

Our first runner is a new one for the yard, GLOBAL FREEDOM who is making the change from the flat to jumps. He runs in the Railway Bar 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle over 1m7f. Denis O’regan will be riding and can hopefully teach this gelding a few things on his national hunt debut.

In the next race we have MONITION who will be ridden by Keith Donoghue. Monition makes the switch back to Hurdles having disappointed on his Chase debut last time. The Paul Byron Shoes Maiden Hurdle over 2m3f will hopefully be the ticket to better form.

For the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginner Steeple Chase we have two runners. The first is the hattrick scorer DARLING MISS. She has been in flying form this year and made a pleasing start to Chasing when second on her debut. Denis O’Regan will be riding. Our second runner in this race is ISLE OF DESTINY, who has a similar profile to Darling Miss having been placed over fences. Keith Donoghue will ride.

The last runner of the day is GLOBAL JACKPOT in the J.F Hanley Beginners Steeple Chase over 2m. He’s not the most straightforward as he has been a little disappointing of recent. Hopefully the tide ahs changed and Keith Donoghue can get a different tune out of him today.

We wish all our horses and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return.

Sunday 4th August

Its the final day of the Galway Festival and we head into the west with 2 runners.

EMPIRE BURLEQUE represents us in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle. He is yet to break his duck over hurdles and today looks a strong contest with a full field of 20 runners including Ilikedwayurthinking who has already been victorious at Ballybrit this week. Kevin Brogan takes the ride and claims 4lb.

Our final runner of the week is A TOI PHIL (pictured) in the Watch Racing TV Now Chase. The 9yo finished 13th in the Galway Plate earlier in the week after being quite badly hampered. He’s been unable to finish in the placings since last November but hopefully the smaller field of 7 will see him pick up some prize money. Mark Enright is in the saddle.

Saturday 3rd August

We head back down to Galway with two runners on the penultimate day of the festival.

MOOLTAZEM makes his yard and hurdling debut in the O’Leary Insurances Maiden Hurdle. The new recruit has 19 runs on the flat under his belt, of which 3 were victorious. His most recent form is a slight concern after refusing to start on the last two occasions but we’re hoping the change in yards will have sweetened him up and he will take well to the national hunt game. Keith Donoghue takes the ride.

Our only other runner of the day is MITCHOUKA (pictured) in the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle. He’s fresh after a summer break and hopefully the step up in trip to 2m6f will be of benefit to him. Kevin Brogan takes the ride and claims 7lb.

Friday 2nd August

It’s another day devoted to Galway for us as we send 7 horses to Ballybrit.

We kick things off in the very first race with STAR MAKER in the Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle. He wasn’t happy last time at Bellewstown. Hopefully today can be a different story and normal service can resume. Davy Russell will ride.

Next we switch to the flat and LONGCLAW makes an appearance in the James’s Gate Irish EBF Median Auction Maiden over 7f. He was taken by proceedings on his debut but made up ground late on. He’s here for another crack at it and Billy Lee rides.

For the Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Steeple Chase we send four horses forward. At the top of the weights is MILL QUEST who has struggled a little bit as of late but the drop in trip should aid her and Keith Donoghue takes the ride. SWINGBRIDGE weakened back through the field in the Midlands National last time out but will also be taking a drop in trip. Mark Enright will take the ride. The old warrior NED STARK who ran a very big race at Kilbeggan to finish 4th is the pick of Davy Russell. Lastly CECIL CORBETT rounds off our runners for this race. He’s won off this weight in the past and is a real trier. Dennis O’Regan will be the pilot.

Finally our last runner for the day is IS FANTASTIC, hopefully this daughter of Arcano can live up to her name. She finished 7th on her debut at Fairyhouse last month over 7f and should appreciate the step up in trip to 1m4f in the Guinness Irish EBF Fillies Maiden. Chris Hayes is on board.

We wish all our runners and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return.

Thurday 1st August

Yesterday was a great day. Not only did we take home two wins in the pouring rain at Perth, we also took home the Galway Plate for the third time in four years. It was a big team effort and it’s great to reap the rewards on the track. We wouldn’t be able to do it without our top team here at Cullentra House Stables.

Back to normality, we have 5 runners today, all at Galway as we hunt for more glory.

First up is FROM EDEN in the Guinness Beginners Steeple Chase over 2m 6f. He’s been 2nd on his last three starts and we hope he change that trend for the better. Davy Russell ride.

Next is MAKE MY HEART FLY who is bottom weight in the Guinness Open Gate Brewery Novice Steeple Chase. She was 2nd on her chase debut last time out in Tipperary and comes up against a few seasoned rivals here. Denis O’Regan takes the ride.

A break to the feature race of the day, the Guinness Novice Hurdle over 2m 4f. It would be great to double up in the two major races, however we’ll be up against it here. we have two runners here as our reserve Star Maker didn’t get in. First is CHOSEN MATE who nearly broke his flat maiden tag last time out. He was a Grade 2 winning Novice hurdler last season so has a bit of class about him. Davy Russell will be riding. Our second runner in this race is TOMBSTONE who be partnered by Rachael Blackmore.

We wish all our horses and rider the very best of luck and for a safe return.

Wednesday 31st Jul

Today is a very busy day, we send 8 across to Galway and 5 over at Perth.

The first order of the day will be at Perth, as they host the second day of their two day meeting. BRAID BLUE has found himself in a very small field of only 4 runners in the opener; the Live Racing TV on Facebook Novices’ Hurdle over 2m7f. He was a winner on his last two starts and aims for a hat-trick with his companion Dicky Johnson.

SERIOUS EGO goes in the 2m Heineken UK Handicap Hurdle. The ground might be a bit on the quick side here but the race has come up like one worth chancing. Dicky Johnson will be in the driving seat.

Next is CREADEN GRAE who has been in good form at home as of late. He goes for the Heidsieck Monople Party Goes On Handicap Chase. He will be giving away weight to the whole field so it won’t be the most straightforward task. Our man Dicky Johnson is onboard yet again here.

It’s a small break until our next runner at Perth; MOLY MOTIVATION in the follow @RacingTV on Twitter Handicap Hurdle. Another runner burdened with top weight, she makes her maiden voyage to Perth in the hope of bringing back a prize. Dicky Johnson rides.

A good winner first time out, SAINT OR SINNER will be having another crack in bumpers. She goes for the final race at Perth, the Watch Irish Racing On RacingTV Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race. A final ride for Dicky Johnson.

Not long after the last race at Perth ends, the party is only starting in Galway! DARK DECADE is our first runner of the card in the second race, the Tote Proud Sponsor of Galway Handicap Hurdle. He has cheekpieces fitted today to keep him sharp. Denis O’Regan will be riding.

A full field of 20 go forward in the Tote Account Irish EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle, in which BALLYDUNBLAZE will be our representative. A winner last time out she will have a bit of confidence going into proceedings. Mark Enright will be riding.

Our next race is the big one of the evening, The thetote.com Galway Plate. We send forward 5 for the 24 runner field. MENGLI KHAN, a very smart Novice Chaser is the first in our line up. Davy Russell will be partnering with him. A TOI PHIL is next, he hasn’t been able to find the same sort of form as he had last year but 7lbs claimer Liam Quinlan will be onboard taking some valuable weight off his back. An unfortunate faller last time out when it looked like she was going to win the Midlands National, BARRA will take her chances here again. Mark Enright will be onboard. Sneaking in low at the weights is BORICE, an impressive two time winner over in Perth as of recent. Luke Dempsey will be riding. Finally for the Plate is RAVENHILL. A consistent sort who has made a nice start over bigger obstacles. He comes in at a nice weight and Johnny Burke will be riding.

Our final runner of the day is FALAK in the Play The Tote Superfecta Handicap. Young 5lbs claimer Ben Coen will get the ride, the weight off his back will put him at a much more competitive mark.

We wish all our runners and riders the very best of luck and for a safe return and a special thanks to all our staff you make the daily journey to Galway and the long trek to Perth.
