I recently joined the GERC and I have to say it’s really great. I already feel better informed and better valued than two other syndicates I am a member of. This club is fantastic value too and it’s backed up by regular emails from the stables whereas in other syndicates you can feel like you are not important as you only own a tiny bit of one horse and that horse may run only two or three times a year but being a member of the GERC gives you a share in a club which owns 6 horses so it gives you five times the fun as Gordon’s horses seem to run more frequently. I would encourage any racing fans to join up as for a minimal cost it will give you a fantastic new experience and a much enhanced day at the races as you get all the same benefits as if you owned a horse outright yet at a fraction of the cost

EDWARD MERCER

Joined this racing club on the day it was launched because we wanted the chance to be involved with a top trainer and have a bit of fun as well. This club has certainly delivered on all these points. It is well run, informative and we very much enjoy being a part of it. Gordon runs his horses all over the UK and Ireland so no matter where you are based, there is always a chance of watching a Gordon Elliott runner. The cost is one of the lowest around at the moment and works out at around £12 per week. We have visited several racecourses where the Elliott team have been absolutely great with us and Gordon himself always has time for a chat!!!. If you are thinking of joining, just do it, it’s great fun and we love being involved.

MARILYN NICOLSON

Great Racing Club to be involved with. Almost daily we get regular updates on the horses. How they are performing on the gallops and where they are entered. Even if you are based in England, like I am, I suggest there are many benefits for joining the Club. I have followed our horses at Lingfield Park and Warwick and they have raced at other courses in England and Scotland. Wow have you ever lead in a winner or been presented with a trophy as the owner. Yes, had that pleasure at Warwick Race Course. Have you ever been to Ireland? Gordon’s yard is so easy to access, whether travelling by ferry or flying over. Had the pleasure of attending a Club Open Day, what a yard, never seen anything so immaculate. We had free access to the stables, yes, and we saw the Gold Cup Winner Don Cossack. Even had a photograph with him. We also saw our horses working on the gallops and Gordon gave us a update on there well being. Oh forgot to say about the cost to join the Gordon Elliott Racing Club, £12 per week, unbelievable good value.

ROGER DAY

I am 79 and have been into horse racing all my life from i was 12. I know the ups and downs involved in the sport i think the Gordon Elliot Racing Club is one of the best there is its all about a bit of fun,. and if we get a winner then its a bit of icing on the cake, some race horse owners have horses for years and never get a winner. I could not ( understandably) afford the cost of horse ownership 50 years ago, so when I was 23 I bought two racing pigeons! I had them trained professionally but neither won and both got lost over France! Total expenditure about 300€. I progressed to owning two greyhounds in my late 30’s and both eventually won races, but outlay far exceeded any income by a few thousand euro over 3 years. I then had the rehoming costs and the heartache involved before I could move on. Through meeting folk at greyhounds I joined, with 99 others a syndicate owning a horse ” Baggsy” named in memory of Gary Baggs a trainer who sadly passed at a young age. She was sadly hopeless, running countless times without ever showing any intent of troubling the judge! A lesser number ( around a dozen) then bought a horse between us that ran four or five times over two years costing us around €5000 each, also without looking like getting us excited. Around this time I got divorced, sold everything and bought a yearling colt at Newmarket sales for €30,000. Two years later,  having ran once as a two year old, and costing €1000 a month in fees, he sadly broke down in the paddock and some €10k in vets fees later died after a bout of colic. It was heartbreaking, the money meant nothing.  Undeterred, a contact made through that experience, and I purchased a dodgy 6yo gelding for €7000 and after 20 runs and around €15000 in various fees we won a race at Kempton Park, with the wonderful Richard Hughes  (champion jockey that year) up. We won very nearly €3000 in prize money and didn’t have enough ‘on’ to cover the previous loses at 6-1 SP!!! The horse broke down shortly after and after vets bills, rehoming costs and transport to new stables I had run out of money ( estimate 100k ). I had however, lived the dream. Now, through the Gordon Elliott Racing Club I can, at very little cost, rekindle that excitement. Trust me, it is value for money, not just financially but emotionally and health wise too.
